Brown Avenue Schoolwas built in 1934 as a simple schoolhouse to serve the children in the town's western
hills. A two room building was built eight years later to replace the first. An addition of four rooms were added in 1961,
to accommodate the increased enrollment. Three more additions (1966,1978,1987) provided a cafeteria and additional classrooms.
Today, Brown Avenue remains a symbol of excellence in Johnston. Recently, new computers were added to some of the classrooms
and the entire building is now equipped with high-speed internet.
